Summer Solstice
Summer is officially here! On June 20th, the summer solstice will start the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Come spend the longest day of the year at Aquarium Encounters and start your summer off right. Whether it’s jumping into our coral reef tank, feeding adult nurse sharks, or making connections in our touch tanks, we have everything you need to start summer off with a bang!
Zoo and Aquarium Month
June marks the start of zoo and aquarium month! Many zoos and aquariums help to educate the public on issues concerning the environment and the animals that inhabit it. By providing people access to animals that they might not see in the wild, it can help to foster a care and passion for conservation and preservation of the environment. Facilities like Aquarium Encounters also promote conservation, research, and rehabilitation. Through our R3EACH program, we do research on hammerheads, goliath groupers, as well as corals. We are also the only manatee rehabilitation facility in the Florida Keys, and we work with partners like the MRP and US Fish and Wildlife to rehabilitate injured manatees before they are re-released into their natural habitat. By going to zoos and aquariums, you are helping to promote conservation, education, research, and rehabilitation for generations to come!
World Oceans Day
Celebrate World Ocean Day by taking time to appreciate and protect the waters that sustain life on Earth. Our oceans provide oxygen, regulate the climate, support countless species, and inspire people around the world every day. Here at Aquarium Encounters, we are passionate about ocean conservation and educating guests on the importance of protecting marine ecosystems through responsible actions like reducing plastic waste, properly disposing of fishing lines, and respecting wildlife habitats. Every small action can make a big difference in helping keep our oceans healthy for future generations. Join us in celebrating the beauty and importance of our oceans while learning more about the incredible marine animals that call them home. Together, we can help create a cleaner, healthier future for our seas and the wildlife that depend on them.
