Experience the thrill of snorkeling in our private natural mangrove habitat of the Florida Keys, with plenty of marine life.

Our Lagoon Encounter offers easy access to an exciting marine environment with all the necessary gear that you need for a fun time in the water including wetsuits, masks, snorkels and fins.

Best of all, our lagoon enclosure is protected from the sometimes harsh wind conditions which can cause rough boating conditions on the offshore reef here in the Florida Keys. With the Florida Keys Aquarium Lagoon Encounter, our visitors can enjoy the fun of a day snorkeling in the sun without having to experience the unpleasantness or seasickness of a rough boat trip!

Schedule of Events

The Lagoon Encounter runs daily and typically lasts roughly 90 minutes

10:30-10:45 – Check in at guest services and fill out encounter waiver
10:45-10:55– Watch educational video about the Keys, National Marine Sanctuary, and what to expect during the snorkel in the canal
10:55-11:05- Gear review with instructor/ DIVE instructor
11:10-11:50- Snorkel and explore our native lagoon.
11:55-12:00- Post snorkel review

A typical Lagoon Encounter includes:

Exclusive access to enter our Florida Keys Lagoon Enclosure.
All necessary supplies for a safe snorkeling experience including Dive Mask, Snorkel, Fins & Wetsuit
Access to Changing Rooms with hot showers to slip into your Lagoon Encounter Gear.
Approximately 50 minutes of exploration time in our exclusive Lagoon Enclosure
Viewing of a wide variety of tropical fish native to the Florida Keys

REQUIREMENTS:

All members of the family are invited to enjoy the Lagoon Encounter.

Children snorkelers must be accompanied by a parent or legal chaperone.

Maximum of 12 participants

DURATION:

Each Lagoon Encounter lasts roughly 90 minutes with a total of roughly 50 minutes in our lagoon.

PRICING (DOES NOT INCLUDE PARK ADMISSION):

$30 for each participant
