Safely Interact with Stingrays in the Shallow Tank

Personally interact with stingray species from the Florida Keys and Caribbean

At Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters, our Stingray Encounter enables visitors the ability to get in our shallow water tank with our diverse stingray species in a safe environment all with education from our professional marine biologist.

During the encounter, our professional marine biologist will teach our visitors about the stingrays while the gentle rays explore the tanks within reach of you and your family. During the Florida Keys stingray encounter, visitors will be able to feed and pet stingrays when they come swim up on your lap, while on our underwater stingray bench. Please note that for the safety of our visitors, barbs are trimmed on all rays.

Schedule of Events

The Stingray Encounter runs daily at 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM & 4 PM

The normal schedule of events during the Stingray Encounter include:

*Please arrive 15 minutes before your encounter to fill out necessary waivers.

:00-:10 Meet your marine biologist and listen to educational info on stingrays and answer questions.
:10-:25 Rinse off, change into wetsuit and receive instructions from your marine biologist
:25-:40 Participants enter the tank, sit down and one at a time have a large ray swim up into their lap.  During this time our photographers will be capturing your entire encounter!
:40-:50 Post question and answer with marine biologist. Exit stingray tank, remove wet suits, shower off.

*Pick up your free group photo in the photo room and fill out a questionnaire about your experience.

A typical Stingray Encounter includes:
  • Exclusive access to enter into our Stingray Cove Encounter tank.
  • Group photo of your encounter experience
  • Tank time in our waist-deep stingray tank with the personal guidance from our marine biologist
  • An in-depth education session of the stingrays that you are interacting with, from our experienced marine biologist.
  • Close interactions with multiple stingrays coming up on your lap to feed and rest!
  • Hot showers are available to rinse off after your encounter.

Stingray Encounter Information

Look who you will meet on the Reef!

REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must be over the age of 4.

Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Up to 6 participants per group

You must be present and checked in inside our Florida marine park 30 minutes prior to your Encounter start time. We require a waiver to be filled out before your encounter as well.

DURATION:

Each Stingray Encounter lasts roughly 40 minutes.

PRICING (DOES NOT  INCLUDE PARK ADMISSION):

$65.00 per participant.

If you or your group would like to maximize your time with our animals and enjoy a more personalized experience, call us at (305)-407-3262. A private guided encounter adds a one-time $100 charge to the encounter and guarantees your group exclusive access to the exhibit. No other guests will be in the encounter with your group. Your group can enjoy a one on one with our biologist or diver and extra time feeding and interacting with our animals!
